Sealants

What are Sealants?

Teeth easily and constantly become covered in a sticky film we know as “plaque.” When we eat and drink foods that contain sugar and starches; bacteria turn the sugar and starch into acids that often attack the tooth enamel, resulting in tooth decay.

A dental sealant is a plastic material that is applied to a chewing surface of a back tooth. The sealant acts as a barrier, protecting the enamel from plaque and acid buildup, helping to prevent tooth decay.

Dental sealants have been used safely and effectively for more than twenty years. Dental sealants work excellent for both children and adults.
