Sealants
What are Sealants?
Teeth easily and constantly become covered in a sticky film we know as “plaque.” When we eat and drink foods that contain sugar and starches; bacteria turn the sugar and starch into acids that often attack the tooth enamel, resulting in tooth decay.
A dental sealant is a plastic material that is applied to a chewing surface of a back tooth. The sealant acts as a barrier, protecting the enamel from plaque and acid buildup, helping to prevent tooth decay.
